Beypore Beach lies at the mouth of the Chaliyar River in Kozhikode district. Beypore is one of the significant ancient ports and fishing harbors of Kerala. It was an important trade and maritime center in the past.
The major attraction of the Beypore Beach is the bridge built almost 2 km into the sea. It is made up of huge stones heaped together for nearly 2 km thereby making a pathway into the sea.
Beypore was much sought after by merchants from Western Asia in the past for its ship building industry. The boat-building yard at Beypore is famous for the construction of the traditional Arabian trading vessel, Uru. The specialist craftsmen called Khalasis, even today, design and build these vessels. The designs are not drawn but conceived in mind.
Kappad Beach is connected with all the major cities of India by air, rail and land routes via Kozhikode. The nearest airport is at Karipur 23 km from Kozhikode and the railway station is at Kozhikode itself.
